Windows 10 Music Overlay

Hey, @MAPO2195 - I'm sorry- but we can't surely confirm what's the issue here. It's likely an issue with Spotify itself, or at least the app installed on your PC- You can contact the support team through this contact form so they can take a look into your issue.

In Windows 8, Microsoft added a volume slider that appears in the top-left corner of your screen whenever you change the volume. While this is useful for those on a touchscreen, it’s annoying to see it every time you adjust the volume.

Recently, Windows 10 started doing something even more annoying: if you pause or adjust the volume when you’re playing music from Spotify, a big pop-up appears showing the name of the current song and its album art. While you might find this useful, it takes up a pretty big chunk of the screen and broadcasts your music to anyone looking at your screen.

….Yay, the new @Spotify overlay in Windows 10 (new to me)….awesome! pic.twitter.com/OQwfLraTIn

This will hide both the volume slider and song information window next to it.

It’s great that Spotify finally update to remove this. You might like the popup, as it lets you quickly see what song is playing without opening the main Spotify window. But if you find it just gets in the way, removing it just takes a simple setting change.

  1. thanks!! now i don't need to be embarrassed in front of my family when an album has a stupid, inappropriate cover image. cool!

  2. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!! :) Every time I would be working on something and then change the volume it wouldn't go away for the longest time, then to make it worse my mouse would go over it and it would stay around even longer and I just couldn't figure out how to get rid of it. Believe me I tried and with no success I may add, luckily you came along and figured out how to do it.
    - So thanks :)

  3. Thank you! That stupid popup kept moving my mouse and when I clicked to shoot while playing a game I instead set to volume to max, very annoying!

  4. I really like that feature. but like most things these days the software does not give enough options for individual configuration of features. it's a trend that I don't agree with because everyone is different.
