Star Wars Battle Front II: The Expansion Pack: Bene otherwise known simply as Bene, is the expansion pack for the ever popular game.It featured ground breaking new features, such as new vehicles, new planets, and a class creation system, along with a Jedi creation.
Star Wars Battlefront II will have all its upcoming DLCs for free with players given the option to spend extra cash in the form of microtransactions instead. The 2o15 was hotly anticipated before it debuted but quickly drew flak from gamers over its steeply priced add-ons that basically constitutes the interesting bits of the game.
This time, EA appears to have learned from its mistake with a slew of changes and improvements for the upcoming Battlefront II that will, hopefully, make up for the blunders of its predecessors. This includes its infamous segregation of DLCs for significant amounts of money. We previously knew there was no season pass, but it sounds like EA's doing something even better.
At EA's Battlefront II presentation at the ongoing E3, the game's design director Niklas Fegraeus discussed how DLC would be free and shared his thoughts about the recent change in business model for the title:
'I think the main thing here is to keep the community together. In terms of the brand, to me, when it comes to Star Wars, that's a family feeling. If you're a fan, you're a part of the family. And splitting that up and saying, 'If you have this content you can play here, but if you have this content you can play here.' And if you don't share, you will be split up. What we wanted to do was have a journey that starts at the launch of the game. So when the game launches, this journey starts with different seasons [of DLC].'
This is good news for gamers out there who have been anticipating the release of the sequel but are still unsure whether the game will be making the necessary adjustments in terms of the business model that it has used for its predecessor or not.
That said, for those who are willing to spend money to speed up their progress in the game, EA is introducing microtransactions. But even with this, Fegraeus emphasized that players cannot buy their way into dominating the game. Instead, while the extra upgrades that would cost a few bucks will help one's advancement in the game, your overall status will still be mainly dependent on his gameplay performance.
This new business model is arguably more conducive for both EA and players of Battlefront II. It's great that gamers are given the option whether they are willing to spend extra money or not on the game without taking away from the fun of playing it. More so, the absence of DLC passes promises a base game that has more quality content compared to Battlefront I's meaning that the title can be thoroughly enjoyed fresh from release without the need to constantly wait for the release of expansion packs every few months. The first expansion pack for the new game is expected to drop by December and will be in line with the new film, Star Wars: The Last Jedi.
Aside from making the necessary adjustments on how the game is monetized, EA is also finally adding a single player story mode to Star Wars Battlefront II. Players will be able to take on the role elite Imperial TIE pilot named Iden Versio as she strives to fulfill her duties to the Empire following the events of Star Wars: Episode VI - Return of the Jedi.
